KENNY Miller today predicted Rangers starlet Lewis Macleod will be the subject of transfer bids if he carries on banging in the goals for the Ibrox club.

Macleod netted his seventh goal of the season in the 1-0 victory over St Johnstone in the League Cup quarter-final on Tuesday night.

It is an astonishing return for a midfielder - and one that veteran striker Miller reckons will have attracted the attention of rival clubs.

He said: "Lewis is moving forward, I think he'd be the first to say he's maybe not playing in the ideal position he'd like. He'd maybe prefer to play central midfield, but he's done so well.

"We all know he is a fantastic footballer. I saw it two years ago when I came in here to do a bit of training in the close season of the MLS, and he was the first one that caught the eye.

"You could tell he was a stand-out and I think he was only 17 or 18 at the time. In the last few years, he's had a lot of games and has got better.

"As a young kid you are only going to get better playing regular first-team football, but this year he has added goals to his game, too.

"That's him on seven already this season. And they have been big goals as well.

"He's come up with the winner against Inverness and St Johnstone, so they have been important goals. He is developing really well.

"His goal against St Johnstone came from a late run into the box. It was a typical kind of Frank Lampard goal, arriving right on time in the box and getting on the end of a great cross. He's getting better and better as the season goes on."

Miller added: "The fact that he is now a goalscoring midfielder means he will catch the eye even more. Everyone is going to be watching him and saying 'there's a midfielder who scores goals'.

"He could have 12 or 13 goals by Christmas if he keeps going, which is fantastic at any level, particularly for a young lad playing out of position.

"There is no doubt that young players always get attention and catch the eye. So I'm sure if he keeps going, then he will get a bit of interest."
