BILEL Mohsni today tipped Rangers wonderkid Lewis Macleod to go from strength to strength after his stunning overhead kick against Ayr.

Macleod netted a spectacular effort in the second half of the 2-0 SPFL League One victory over United at Somerset Park yesterday.

It is the fourth goal the talented 19-year-old midfielder has netted in eight games this season and was the best so far.

Mohsni, who netted the opening goal in a win that sent the Gers eight points clear at the top of the table, thinks it will boost his confidence greatly.

He said: "We have a lot of good young players at the club. They are the future of the club. They have a lot of talent. Lewis Macleod is one of them.

"He scored a fantastic goal against Ayr. You do not score a goal like that without being a special talent. I am sure he will grow in confidence now."

Mohsni, the French-Tunisian centre half who joined Rangers this summer, has previously played at Ipswich and Southend in England.

The one-time West Ham target believes Scotland Under-21 starlet Macleod is among the most talented young players he has ever worked with.

He explained: "There are good young players coming through at most clubs. But Lewis is different because of the character he shows at such a young age.

"He always wants the ball. Sometimes when you are young you hide yourself away. But that is not the way that Lewis plays the game. He has a strong mentality.

"He is always looking for the ball. He likes to get on it and play passes. He is also happy to throw himself into tackles and get stuck in.

"With Lewis and Robbie Crawford, who came on against Ayr, the club has great talent. They are the future generation of the club. They will just get better and better."

Mohsni opened the scoring in the second half of the game against Ayr with his fourth goal of the season and he is keen to keep on hitting the target.

He said: "I will try my best to help score goals. I think it will be very good for the team if I can do this. I was happy to score against Ayr.

"When I played at under-18 level I scored 18 goals one season. That is the most I have scored in a season. Hopefully I can beat that. I have made a good start.

"But I played in midfield at that time so perhaps it will not be easy for me to do this. I have moved from the front to the back as my career has progressed.

"But I have Lee McCulloch beside me at the back and that helps me to get forward. I know that if I go up the pitch he will be there to cover for me in defence. It is very good."
