Rangers star Steven Smith is doubtful for tonight's home visit of Queen of the South.

The midfielder is almost certain to be sidelined with a cold for a match which kicks off a new era at the crisis-stricken club.

Lee Robinson is set to continue in goal with Cammy Bell working his way back to sharpness following a shoulder injury.

Newcastle loanees Kevin Mbabu, Gael Bigirimana, Remie Streete, Shane Ferguson also remain on the sidelines along with Richard Foster and Sebastien Faure.

Meanwhile, Kyle Hutton is determined to wipe out the memory of his last game against the Doonhamers.

The midfielder was an unused sub in December when the Light Blues slumped to a 2-0 defeat in Dumfries

But he has since produced a rich vein of form to become a first pick on Kenny McDowall's teamsheet.

And he is keen to maintain the standard of recent displays.

He told the club's official website: "The last time we played them it was at their ground and the defeat was really disappointing.

"The performance was poor and we didn't do ourselves any justice that night.

"The boys are really up for the game and we need to make sure that we get three points from every game between now and the end of the season.

"They are in the mix for promotion and they will be looking to push hard for that.

"With all of the home games coming up in a row, it's imperative that we win those as they are crucial.

"It's up to us to be focused and concentrate to take every point that we can."
