NICKY Law today backed Rangers to maintain their astonishing winning run and make history - despite their mounting injury problems.

Law and his team-mates have triumphed in the opening 13 games of their SPFL League One campaign to give themselves a chance of a "Perfect Season".

And they will look to keep their hot streak going when they take on a Forfar Athletic team they have struggled against in the 2013/14 campaign at Ibrox tonight.

Ally McCoist's men will write their names in the history books if they triumph as it will be the 19th consecutive victory they will have recorded.

No Rangers team since the end of Second World War has won so many competitive matches in succession.

Law, who scored the all- important opening goal late on in the Scottish Cup clash with Falkirk on Saturday, is confident they can reach the landmark.

That is despite another first team player, Kyle Hutton, being sidelined by a serious injury.

Hutton joined Ricky Foster, Chris Hegarty, Andy Little and Ross Perry on the treatment table after breaking his leg in an under-20 match at Firhill last week.

It is a serious blow to the club and McCoist has admitted he is keen to strengthen his squad with new signings in the January transfer window.

The only specialist strikers he can field at the moment are Nicky Clark and Jon Daly and his top priority next month will be to bring in another frontman.

But Law is confident the summer recruitment drive that he was a part of - the English midfielder joined on a free transfer from Motherwell - will be enough to see the Light Blues through.

"I think the reason the manager brought in as many players as he did during the summer was to cope with situations like this," he said.

"He knows that at times during the season we are going to pick up injuries and suspensions.

"It is unfortunate that we have got three or four players out at the moment. They are long-term ones as well. It is disappointing for them and us as well.

"We know we have got a strong squad. We have got two or three players for each position. So we are coping quite well and I am sure that will continue."

Law has been greatly impressed with how the players who had been on the fringes of the Rangers first team have performed since being brought into the fray.

Clark has struck up a decent partnership with Daly up front and scored in the 3-0 win over Arbroath at Gayfield in the league last week.

Elsewhere, Sebastien Faure has been dependable at right- back since taking over from Foster and has helped his side keep clean sheets in their last three matches.

And teenage winger Fraser Aird, meanwhile, has done well in the games against Arbroath and Falkirk he has been involved in.

Law believes the manager will have a difficult job selecting his team for the rescheduled League One game with Forfar at Ibrox this evening.

He said: "Seb has come in and has fitted in well at right-back. Nicky too has also come in and excelled, scoring a good goal last week.

"Fraser has done very well in the two games he has been involved in. He has been really positive. He gave us something a bit different to what Arnie Peralta does.

"He is more direct and looks to take the left-back on. He is always trying to take people on, get past people and get balls into the box.

"He was a bright spark for us. I am sure he and the other players vying for a start will give the manager a selection headache and can feature increasingly in the weeks ahead."

Rangers have not enjoyed their meetings with Forfar so far this term.

They were knocked out of the League Cup after slumping to a 1-0 defeat at Station Park back in August.

McCOIST was unable to field any of the players he brought to Ibrox in the summer in that outing as a result of bizarre competition rules.

But the Glasgow giants were highly fortunate to record a narrow 1-0 win over the Angus club when they returned to play them in the league the following month.

Law stressed that nobody in the Rangers team will be underestimating the challenge that faces them tonight as a result of the difficulties they experienced in those two outings.

He said: "We treat every team that we play, whether it is at home or away, with complete respect. The minute you take an opposing team lightly you are in trouble.

"Forfar are strong defensively and have great experience in their side. I am sure they will not be daunted by coming to play at Ibrox.

"I have no doubt they will be confident going into the game as a result of the confidence they have gained from our previous two matches. But we are playing well ourselves.

"We know that if we play to the best of our abilities we should be able to get another victory and keep our winning run going."
