AARON DORAN admits Rangers are a far different prospect from the team Inverness brushed aside two years ago.

But he insists Caley Thistle have improved too as John Hughes' side prepare for a League Cup clash with the Light Blues tomorrow night.

The Highlanders won 3-0 on their last trip to Ibrox in October 2012 and return this week on the back of a defeat to Partick Thistle that saw them lose top spot in the Premiership.

Ally McCoist's side continued their recent fine form with a 4-0 win at Raith last week and Doran is relishing the chance to go head-to-head with the Gers once again.

He said: "Rangers had a good result on Friday and they're different to the team we played a few years ago. We went down there in front of a big crowd and passed them off the park.

"We're a better team now, with a better squad and we've started off the season well. We'll go down there in a positive frame of mind, try to get the Partick Thistle game out of our heads and get back to what we've been doing.

"That game maybe takes the pressure off, because people would have expected a lot from us if we had won again.

"This is just another challenge for us. We need to get back up and go again. We need to pass and score."
