HARIS VUCKIC is uncertain where his future will lie when his hugely successful loan spell at Rangers comes to an end next month.

The midfielder intends to return to English Premier League club Newcastle United after his summer break and force his way into the first team in the 2015/16 campaign.

And, given how well he has acquitted himself since arriving in this country back in February, few would bet against him achieving his aim and establishing himself as a United regular.

The 22-year-old has performed consistently well for the Gers and has netted nine goals - including eight in as many outings at Ibrox - in just 15 appearances.

Light Blues supporters have been left scratching their heads and asking themselves why the Slovenian internationalist was deemed surplus to requirements at St James' Park.

Yet there has also been speculation- which the player himself has refuted - that Vuckic will leave United in the summer even though he still has a year left on his contract.

And the free-scoring star has also refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Ibrox, either on loan again or permanently, at some stage down the line.

Such uncertainty over his next step could be unsettling for a young man who has become a key member of the Rangers side since joining at the end of the January transfer window.

But today Vuckic stressed that he remains totally committed to helping Stuart McCall's side clinch promotion to the SPFL Premiership via the end-of-season play-offs.

And he is determined to ensure that his side go into those matches on a huge high by beating runaway Championship winners Hearts at Tynecastle on the day they receive their trophy.

"It will give us a massive boost going into the play-offs if we are able to win our last match in the league against the champions away from home this weekend," he said.

"If we can do that then we will look for the Hibernian score. If Falkirk can draw with them or beat them at their own stadium then we can get second place in the league.

"I think Falkirk have got a good chance of getting the result that will help us if they play like they did in the game at Ibrox at the weekend. Yes, we now have to rely on another result to help us out if we are going to finish second in the league and qualify for the semi-finals, but that is what we are hoping to achieve.

"That is our target. If we can finish second in the league we will avoid the quarter-finals and that will mean that we get the rest that we need at this stage in the season.

"But, whatever happens, the play-off games are going to be very difficult. We will have to play well if we hope to progress to the knockout stages. Every member of the squad will be needed.

"If we want to secure promotion we will have to play well to win all of the games that we have coming up. But that is the objective that we all have as a team and I think it is one we can achieve."

Vuckic scored on his debut for Rangers in an otherwise disappointing 2-1 defeat to Raith Rovers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup back in February when caretaker manager Kenny McDowall was still in charge.

He has been pleased to play a part in helping the Gers - who looked in serious danger of missing out on the play-offs at one stage this term - turn their season around under new boss McCall.

The versatile player, who can be utilised anywhere across the midfield or up front just off a lone striker, revealed he has enjoyed working under the former Bradford City and Motherwell manager in recent weeks.

He said: "When I first joined the club everyone was a little bit down because of what was happening off the park and how we were playing on it and due to some of the results we were getting. But that has changed. I think all of the players enjoy the manager's training.

"We are all working hard for each other in training and in games and are focused on doing well for the supporters. Everyone is motivated to do well.

"I feel I have improved as a player during the time that I have been at the club. It has been good for me and for my development to play regularly in the first team. It would be hard to go back to playing in the reserves or sitting on the bench."

Vuckic has become a firm favourite with Rangers fans during his time in Scotland as a result of his goalscoring exploits and he revealed having thousands of supporters cheering him on has helped him raise his performance levels.

He said: "It is nice to be recognised by the fans. It is good when you hear them cheer your name and clap you.

"It makes me want to work hard and do well for the team when I receive that sort of backing. The play-off games are going to be massive and we should get large crowds inside Ibrox.

"I am sure the atmosphere will be amazing and I think that will help us as a team to perform well and get the results we need. I am looking forward to it."
