Rangers midfielder Kyle Hutton has suffered a broken leg.
Hutton confirmed on his Twitter account that X-rays had revealed the worst outcome after he hurt his lower leg during an Under-20s match with Partick Thistle at Firhill on Tuesday night.
Hutton wrote: "Got the results back and i have broken my leg, got no luck at the minute gutted is an understatement! Just need to try and look forward!"
Hutton was injured in a collision with Thistle midfielder Gary Fraser and was carried off on a stretcher after receiving lengthy treatment.
The 22-year-old had recently come back from 10 weeks on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage during his club's pre-season trip to Germany in July.
After the game, Rangers coach Gordon Durie told the club's official website: "It's not the same ankle he had surgery on last time but Kyle said he heard a crack before he went down.
"I think his studs got caught in the ground and the boy gave him a wee nick as well so we'll wait and see how he is."
