RANGERS striker Nicky Clark today stressed that he is not taking his place in the first team for granted - despite Kenny Miller being out injured.

Clark has performed well while the Scotland hero has been sidelined and netted a superb header in the 4-0 win over Raith Rovers last Friday night.

The 23-year-old hitman's goal at Stark's Park took his tally for the season to three in six games. However, the former Queen of the South forward knows he has to keep working hard to hold on to his position in the Light Blues starting line-up.

Clark said: "I am enjoying it just now. Kenny has been injured and it has been up to me to do well and I think I'm doing that.

"Friday night was great. I thought it was maybe one of our best performances of the season so far.

"We played well, passed the ball well and scored a few goals. It was good.

"It has been good to be in the starting line-up in the last few weeks. But you can't say: 'That is me in the team'.

"You still have to work hard, keep proving yourself and keep playing well.

"Big Jon Daly has recovered from his injury now. It is great to have him back.

"He is another striker who can come in, so that means Kris Boyd and I will need to make sure we keep performing well."

Clark, who often struggled to find his best form during his debut season at Rangers, is grateful for the help Boyd and Miller have given him this season.

He said: "Kris is great to play alongside. He has bags of experience. He talks you through games. Even in training sessions he tells you wee extra bits. It is great to have him here.

"I am relatively young and still learning the game, so to have Kris Boyd and Ally McCoist alongside me at a club like this is excellent for my development.

"It is great to see Kenny in training. He is brilliant at what he does. Even talking to him after the game the other night was good. He came in and spoke to me and asked me how I thought I had done."

Clark has admitted he would love Rangers to overcome Premiership side Inverness Caledonian Thistle tonight and go on a run in the League Cup.

He said: "The most important thing for us this season is to get back into the top flight. But if we can go on and win a cup as well, that would be great."

There are still tickets remaining for the Rangers v Inverness CT clash tonight. Adult tickets are priced £21, concession £15 and juniors £5. There will also be pay-at-the-gate in the Copland Front and tickets will be available at the Ticket Centre until kick-off.
