KRIS BOYD hopes victory over Raith Rovers will be the turning point of the campaign for himself and Rangers.

The forward ended his three-month goal drought with the crucial second strike at Stark's Park on Friday as he doubled the Light Blues' advantage following Andy Murdoch's superb first-half effort.

Caretaker manager Kenny McDowall's side clinched a much-needed 2-1 win and valuable three points as they avoided a fourth straight defeat.

Cup losses to Celtic and Rovers, and a Championship reverse at the hands of promotion rivals Hibernian, had seen the pressure mount on McDowall and his under-performing Ibrox squad.

Rangers return to action on Friday night when they head to Falkirk aiming to move back above Hibs in the second-tier standings as the race for a play-off berth gets set to go down to the wire.

And Boyd is determined to play his part between now and the end of the campaign as he looks to hit the goal trail and add to his ten strikes so far this term.

"The worst thing about that period was that I found myself out of the team," he told rangers.co.uk

"I feel as if I'm in the team I can go and put myself in the position to try and score and I've missed a lot of games this season.

"But I won't change, I'll keep going back and I'm prepared to miss chances until it turns good again and I hope that happens now.

"You can make excuses and try and hide away from things, but we know as a team that we've not been good enough on the pitch and it's been disappointing.

"But between now and the end of the season if we can maintain the work ethic that we've shown in training and take that into games and maintain positive results, we know we still have a great chance of going up.

"The most important thing is to prepare ourselves properly for the game at the weekend and be ready to take three points every time."
