YES says CHRIS JACK:

IT is remarkable to think that the man who is the all-time top scorer in the SPL and was in such fine form for Kilmarnock last term has taken nine games to open his league account this season.

The relief for Kris Boyd and the Rangers fans was clear on Saturday afternoon as he finally got off and running in the Championship.

Boyd's main rival for the second tier golden boot, Hearts' Osman Sow, added another one to his tally with a strike in the win against Dumbarton and has scored six more than the Light Blues forward so far this term.

But, with Kenny Miller back alongside him and his confidence given a timely boost, don't be surprised if Boyd hits the goal trail in the coming weeks and starts to close the gap.

Now that Boyd has found his shooting boots, the net will surely bulge on a far more regular basis as he looks to shoot Rangers to the title.

NO says JOHN McGILL:

RANGERS were expected to rely heavily on Kris Boyd for goals this season but that hasn't proven to be the case so far.

The goals have been shared about for Ally McCoist's side, with Lewis Macleod hitting the net six times so far and the likes of Nicky Law and Lee McCulloch also chipping in.

You would expect Boyd to add a few more to his tally in the coming weeks but with Kenny Miller back in the team and on the scoresheet, Jon Daly getting a couple on Saturday and Nicky Clark in decent form, the weight of expectation is perhaps not as great on Boyd's shoulders to be the top scorer at Ibrox.

The Rangers striker will score plenty more goals this term now that he has grabbed his first league goal of the season, but maybe not enough to challenge for the sharp-shooter silverware.
