I HAVE enjoyed watching Atletico Madrid doing so well both in Spain and in Europe this season.

And I fancy them just to pip favourites Real Madrid to the Champions League trophy in Lisbon tomorrow night.

Apart from perhaps Diego Costa, who will be missing from the final, they do not have any big stars.

Diego Simeone's side is a complete unit. In fact, they remind me of the great Dutch side of the 1970s.

Every player can control and use the ball.

Every player can tackle and win it back when they lose possession.

Their win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the semi-final summed them up.

Jose Mourinho's team was playing superbly at that time and their opponents won comfortably.

Real, of course, have the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo. But I am going for Atletico to win.

I think this final underlines that Spain is the best football nation in the world.

They are the current World Cup and European Championship holders.

They are also the under-19 and under-21 champions. On top of that, Sevilla won the Europa League last week.

There is no question which is the best football nation on the planet just now.
