Class act Lewis Macleod has proved he's now top of the form for Rangers

For a young player to play so well for such a big club, and in front of big crowds, told you a lot about how good Lewis is and can be.

He is very comfortable on the ball, he has got a decent engine and, as he has shown a few times this season, he can finish too.

He has played a lot of football for Rangers and matured into a really good player.

He has been excellent this season and it is a myth to say that he is playing wide left or wide right.

If you watch him, he comes inside to the middle of the park a lot and that is where he influences games.

He does a terrific job covering in the wide areas when he has to, but then comes in and gets on the ball in a central area to create chances and score goals. His form is even more impressive considering how he has battled back from the illness that blighted last season.

I was pleased to see him get back into the Scotland Under-21 squad earlier this month and I am a bit surprised that Gordon Strachan hasn't had a look at him as well, especially when you see Callum McGregor, who has been excellent for Celtic, get a call-up.

Lewis will get his chance, there is no doubt about that. His career is going in the right direction and the Scotland squad will come for him.

If he keeps performing the way he is, Gordon has to pick him. Even if he isn't going to play, it will get him in the squad and give him a taste of it.

There is no doubt he will be playing for Scotland in the next couple of years.
