And I was delighted to see Sandy back at the club this week to launch the event.
The first thing I noticed about him was that his voice was back to where it was before his illness.
When he was going through chemotherapy it was light and weak. Now it is far stronger and deeper.
He is definitely on the up. He is getting there.
He was allowed to drive through from Edinburgh by himself this week. He could not do that before.
I believe there will be about 800 people at the dinner and that will be great to see.
Along with Ally McCoist, Sandy kept the club together for a couple of years.
During that time, he worked every waking hour.
It is fitting, then, that the club should arrange this night for him now.
It is what the Ibrox club should be all about.
The Rangers family is a million strong and when one of their own is in trouble they rally around.
This dinner is a way of showing Sandy appreciation for all he has done.
