I was disgusted with the abuse that Ally McCoist received at Tynecastle.

It would have hurt Ally and it would have hurt his family, who were there to watch the game against Hearts.

It was totally disrespectful from the Rangers fans.

I know it wasn't the majority and they were drowned out. But considering everything Ally has done for Rangers for 30 years, to have that directed at him from the terraces is an absolute disgrace.

I know the fans are unhappy with him and are unhappy with the team. We all are disappointed at the moment.

He deserves to get criticised when it is merited, there is nobody in football above that.

For him to get the treatment he did at Tynecastle, though, was bang out of order.

When you think of everything Ally has done for this club, he deserves better than to get that sort of abuse.

Fans have the right to voice their displeasure at how things are going, but Ally was ridiculed. It is not on.

He was mocked. I thought it was totally unacceptable and I was really unhappy at it.

His family never miss a game and had to sit and listen to that. It was sad.

Ally's remit was to get Rangers back into the top flight and he still has a chance to do it. But he needs the backing of the fans to be able to do it.

He has been involved at Ibrox for decades and is as big a fan as anyone.

John Greig got similar stick when he was manager and I said at the time that it was ridiculous as well.

If the fans aren't happy, do what many of them are doing at the moment and don't turn up for the games. Stay away. There is no need to go and shout abuse at the manager.

Ally is trying his best. He is doing what he feels is right. When I heard the chants coming from some of the fans, it really did sadden me.

Ally will say the right things in public, but I am sure he will be hurting at what happened.

He is thick-skinned and he will carry on and look to do what he feels is best for the club and try to get his team back to where they belong.

The Rangers family is split at the moment and when any family is split there are going to be problems.

Ally will be there until the end of the season so, rather than venting your anger at him, why don't you support him and the team?

Let's get the team into the Premiership and then, at the end of the season, things will become clearer.

Everyone has to back the manager and, importantly, back the team. They are all frustrated but I think Ally deserves a lot better to be treated the way that he was at the weekend.

The good thing that came out of Saturday, for me, was the comments of Jon Daly.

He spoke after the defeat to Raith Rovers last season and I was pleased with his honesty in the aftermath of that game.

Jon admitted this week that the players have got to do a lot more and that is something I have said for ages.

Yes, the manager takes responsibility and takes the brunt of the criticism. But the players are the ones that must perform on the pitch

John Brown's comments were also bang on the money. He slaughtered the players and called them out for their performances this season.

The players, for too long, have got away with it and not been held accountable.

The manager is the one that gets the praise when the team wins and the stick when the team loses. He knows the score and that if you don't win at Rangers it is a crisis.

But, ultimately, I think it is up to the players.

They have to prove that they are better than the opposition and, too often, that hasn't been the case at Rangers.

One of the things I noticed on Saturday was how physical Rangers were, they didn't let Hearts dominate them.

They rolled the sleeves up and got stuck in. They did take it too far at times, though.

The stalwarts in that team have to do more and get those around them playing.

The players need to look themselves in the mirror and say, 'can I do more?'

I think the vast majority of the answers would be 'yes'.

Rangers are in a real fight here and need everyone to come together for the good of the club as they look to get back into the Premiership.
