IAN BLACK is one of the main players that gets a lot of stick from Rangers fans.

He can have two or three good passes in a game but then they are on his back when he makes a bad one.

There is no question that he hasn't played well this season, or for spells of the two previous campaigns. He has taken a lot of criticism but I don't think Rangers' poor form can be put down to him.

If you were to go through the squad, I don't think you would find one player that has been consistent and played at a high enough level this season. Nobody. It can't be put at the door of one player.

But, Ian Black is a fall guy for a lot of fans and he does bring it on himself at times. I have never seen him lose the ball so often as he did on Sunday. He was caught in possession, his dead balls were horrendous and his passing was poor.

He didn't have a good game and he had to come off. He can't have been surprised when he was substituted.

When the fans have got it in for you, it is a long way back. That is a problem for Ian and we will need to wait and see if he is in the team for the Hibs game tomorrow. He will know he was poor and it will, or it should at least, hurt that he was cheered when he came off.
