The Ibrox club may be playing in SPFL League One, but they have Premiership players in their team.
So I would like to think that, depending on who they draw, they have a good chance of going a long way in the Scottish Cup.
People are asking: "Can they win it this season?" Well, of course they can. Did anybody expect St Mirren to win it in 1987? Or Kilmarnock to win it in 1997? No.
They have got as good a chance of any other team in the tournament apart from Celtic.
The Parkhead club, with their superior spending power, have to be the strong favourites to retain their trophy.
So, while Rangers have a chance of triumphing despite currently being in the third tier I will not be putting any money on it.
Rangers will have to play well in every round no matter who they come up against to progress to the latter stages of the competition.
Even against Airdrie, a team they gubbed 6-0 away from home in the league a couple of months ago, tonight they will have to be at their best.
Rangers will have to bide their time. But they have got better players and more experience with the likes of Nicky Law, and are at home.
They should win it. In Jon Daly they have a player who can score the goals to send them through.
