ALL players do stupid things on the pitch at times and Lee McCulloch fell into that category against Hearts on Sunday.

Rangers were coasting at 2-0 just before half time and his elbow on Osman Sow was a needless challenge that put the team under pressure.

There is no doubt that it was a red card. Lee can have no complaints and it was a stupid thing to do. It was a silly challenge and one he was never going to get away with.

It left us a man down, forced Stuart McCall to change the shape of the team and it put us behind the eight ball for the second half.

Lee is the captain, he is an experienced player and he is supposed to lead by example. He let himself and his team-mates down on Sunday, though. He came out an apologised after the game and he will know himself he was in the wrong.

Now, he will miss a couple of games and Stuart will have to change the team for the game with Queen of the South tomorrow night.

With only a couple of games left this season, Lee will know that he might not get his place back.

Bilel Mohsni came in for the second half against Hearts and done well. He won the ball well and played well alongside Marius Zaliukas at the heart of the defence.

By ruling himself out of contention, Lee might now struggle to get himself back into the team between now and the end of the season.

If the defence plays well in the next couple of games, it would be a big call for Stuart McCall to then bring Lee back in to the team.

If he doesn't play that much, that could affect his chances of getting another contract to stay at the club for next season.
