STUART McCALL did a fantastic job at Motherwell and certainly over-achieved.

I wasn't that surprised to see him leave the club this week and you can understand his reasons for doing so.

He certainly leaves with his head held high, too.

He said he didn't have the answers to Motherwell's problems and he reckoned that his time was up.

He has to be admired for what he has done and the fact that he has stepped down.

Stuart is a great guy, and a really honest person. He could have hung on and collected his wages, but he didn't want to do that.

He was honest, he was up front and he has decided that this is the best course of action for him and the club.

He has done the honourable, dignified thing and that is not something you can say a lot in football these days.

There is no doubt Stuart will get another job in the not too distant future.

He is still very highly rated and I am sure he won't be short of offers.

Motherwell will certainly give him a glowing recommendation and I am sure everyone wishes him well in the future.
