I FIND it incredible that just two weeks before the fixtures for next season are set to be released we are still unsure who will be governing Scottish football.

It is an absolute joke.

The SFL clubs are set to vote next week over whether to merge with the SPL and form the Scottish Professional Football League.

If they do merge then it looks as if Rangers will be unable to play trialists – as they had hoped to do – in their league games before their transfer ban expires on September 1.

On top of that, PFA Scotland came out at the weekend and warned the players who have signed pre-contract agreements to be wary about playing as trialists.

Stuart Lovell expressed concern that, if they picked up an injury, the Ibrox club may not honour their contract unless they had a written guarantee.

Sorry, but it just seems to me that whenever Rangers are on the verge of making any progress the SFA, the SPL or PFA Scotland pop up and try to hold them back.

I am sure that guys like Nicky Clark, Jon Daly and Nicky Law will have assurances from Rangers that their contracts will be honoured if they pick up injuries while playing as trialists.

These boys will be desperate to be involved in pre-season friendlies and in the early games and will be able to look after themselves.
