IT comes as no real surprise that Derek Llambias last night pulled the plug on the Rangers Fans' Board after their members had put the minutes of their meeting with the board online.

But it is a sad end given that they were established in the first place to act as the bridge between the club and the supporters.

The minutes revealed that Llambias allegedly branded fans a disgrace for their conduct at the December AGM.

But what these guys have to remember is that there is never going to be a Rangers board who would get off lightly when the club is in the state it currently is.

If you want plaudits and pats on the back then you need to get things right - and we are a long way away from that at Rangers just now.

This is a passionate club, these are supporters who are hurting because of what they have been forced to endure over the last three years.

And if Llambias thinks they should sit back and keep their mouths shut then he is living in the wrong world.

This is a football club and people have strong opinions about how it should be run.

The one word that we are all praying for in association with Rangers is this - transparency.

We want a torch to be shone upon the workings of the club, we want to see what is going on behind the scenes and we want to know exactly where the

money is going.

And the people who have promised that - Dave King and the Three Bears - are the people that the fans want to see voted in at the EGM next month.

There is no-one who can guarantee that they are going to be able to come in and take over the running of the club.

But you would like to think that, given how vocal they have been, they have done their lobbying and have a rough idea what percentage of the vote they are going to take.

If King and the Three Bears get control, I think Ibrox will light up for the first time in almost four years.

The cloud will be lifted and there will be genuine optimism that the club is finally heading in the right direction.

I also think that a new regime will bring the likes of the Rangers Fans' Board back into the club - these people have fought a hard battle on behalf of the support during these tumultuous times and it is only right and fitting that they are given a voice in the running of the club. One of the most impressive things for me that Dave King said was that if they are voted into the club in March there will be an immediate fans' board meeting straight afterwards.

It sets the tone for moving the club in the right direction.

If they do assume control, I would like to see him bring in men like John Greig, Walter Smith and even Graeme Souness - guys who appreciate what the club is all about and who have the unerring support and trust of the Rangers fans.

These are the people who can help to take Rangers back to their roots and make sure that they are heading in the right direction.

But one of the first jobs of a new regime will be to make a decision over the manager's job.

Kenny McDowall is a great guy, a good coach, but he would never have expected to find himself managing the club.

He has made it clear that he wants to be out within the year - if not before - and it has to be a priority to allow Kenny to go now and get someone in at the helm who can start to plan ahead. There are a dozen

players whose contracts are up this summer and a decision needs to be taken on whether they will stay or go.

There is no point in someone making that call who will not be at the club in the summer.

It has been a long road and you have to hope that finally there might be a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel.

Hopefully the running of the club is about to be placed into the hands of people who truly understand what it is all about and know how to get Rangers back to the level at which we belong.
