WHAT do St Mirren expect their club to achieve on the budget they have for players?

They finished eighth in the SPFL Premiership this season - above clubs who went out and strengthened their squads in January.

And still the Buddies refused to renew Danny Lennon's contract as manager. It didn't make any sense to me.

Danny won them the League Cup, their first major title in 26 years, last season after wins over Celtic and Hearts.

I am not sure what Tommy Craig, who has been his assistant, is going to do that is different.

It seems to me that Tommy is simply the cheaper option at a club the owners are hoping to sell.

I have been to a few St Mirren games this season and it has been clear to me that the fans were not always happy with what they were watching.

But for me Danny has not done an awful lot wrong. He has certainly tried to get his teams to play the right way whenever possible.

I was also gutted that Hearts dispensed with Gary Locke's services this week.

He has had to put up with so much both on and off the field and he did so with good grace.

He is a Hearts man through and through too. He is like Ally McCoist at Rangers in many respects.

I thought Ann Budge might change things when she took over. But I hoped that Gary would be kept on in some way.

He commands so much respect from the players and the supporters.

He did nothing wrong. In fact, towards the end of the 2013/14 campaign his side played some fantastic football.
