THE new Rangers directors have a massive job on their hands.

I know they plan to look at the books for the last four years and try to ascertain if anything untoward has gone on.

Gers fans are happy with that because a lot of them think there has been some jiggery pokery. That has to be ascertained.

But rebuilding the club in the months and years ahead is the priority for the new occupants of the boardroom and is a huge task.

Dave King and his associates have to make sure the club is financially stable and is run properly going forward.

But there are people out there who are willing to invest. The likes of Brian Kennedy and Robert Sarver have said they are prepared to talk.

That is great. Getting individuals like Kennedy and Sarver involved will help them get back onto a firm financial footing.

But to be a successful club, things have to be right on the pitch. There has to be something good to go and watch. The team has to challenge for trophies.

That is the club's biggest challenge. I would suggest that only two of the current first team will still be there next season.

The new manager, whether it is Stuart McCall or somebody else, has to offload players and bring new faces in who can perform to the required standard.

That has to be done straight away as most other clubs are going out and signing up players for the 2015/16 campaign at the moment. It should actually have been done weeks ago.

The new man at the helm have to make contact with Mike Ashley, who is a still a major shareholder, and come to some agreement.

His Sports Direct stores sell the club merchandise at the moment. But fans are reluctant to shop at them because of all the stories which have been circulating.

That is good for neither party. The agreements have to be looked at and, if necessary, amended. A deal has to be in the best interests of both parties.

If the rumours are to be believed, the only person benefitting from things as they stand is Ashley. Plus, there is the £5 million he is owed. So negotiations have to be held with him.

Yes, the change at the top has been great to see. King, Paul Murray and John Gilligan are true Rangers men and most of the fans wanted to see them take over.

Everything looks far brighter. But the hard work is just beginning.
