RANGERS this week announced that Mike Ashley has given up the naming rights to Ibrox he bought for £1 two years ago.

Great news. Like many supporters, I didn't want to see the stadium called The Sports Direct Arena.

But the question that needs to be answered now is this: "What has he got instead?"

Ashley isn't just going to throw away a deal worth millions of pounds for nothing without receiving something in return.

There's been a lot of speculation and talk about him getting his hands on the rights to the two club crests.

So it is understandable that fans want to know exactly what the quid pro quo is, no pun intended?

I think a lot of Rangers fans are in favour of Mike Ashley. He has an awful lot of money and could transform the fortunes of the club if he chooses to invest some of it.

Having said that, there is another sizeable faction that wanted to see Dave King, a Rangers man who cares dearly about the club, come in and take control.

Ashley has to win the Rangers supporters over - and giving up the rights to the stadium is one way of doing that.

But fans now want to know what he has received in return.

They need answers to their questions. Hopefully they will get them at the AGM next month.
