LEWIS MACLEOD, like every player in Scotland, is for sale.

I spoke a few weeks ago about Lewis and how it was inevitable that teams would be looking at him and would be impressed.

Everton, Newcastle and Burnley have been linked with a move for him this week and I am not surprised at that.

Rangers, of course, will be keen to hold on to him but when the financial position of the club is what it is then you can't afford to turn down big money offers.

If someone comes in and puts cash on the table, Rangers, like every club in Scotland, would have to think about it.

It would be disappointing to see Lewis leave and I really hope that we can keep him at Ibrox but the reality of the situation could be far different unfortunately.

Lewis is a very promising young player and has already been called into the Scotland squad. In the last couple of games, he perhaps hasn't been at his best, though.

If there are teams watching him, Sunday's cup tie with Killie is the kind of game that will tell them a lot about Lewis as a player.

It is fine playing in the Championship but managers want to see their targets against the better teams and the better players.

I am sure there will be scouts at Ibrox at the weekend and while Lewis won't be going out to try and win himself a move, he will be looking to get back to his best and up his performances again.

This is the sort of game that will tell you just how good he is at the moment. He has been terrific for Rangers in the Championship but it is against the likes of Kilmarnock that he is tested far more.

The most important thing for Lewis, though, will be getting back on form from a personal point of view and helping Rangers get into the next round.

There is no doubt there will be interest in him in the future but Rangers are his priority just now.
