RANGERS will find themselves in Groundhog Day when they take on St Johnstone in the League Cup quarter-final at Ibrox next month.
I said when the Gers drew SPFL Premiership form team Inverness Caledonian Thistle at home in the second round that they could beat them.
But I stressed that they needed the majority of their players to perform to overcome their top flight rivals.
Well, exactly the same will apply when they take on the Scottish Cup winners in the last eight of the competition. The Perth club have had some terrific results this season.
But they have had a few bad ones as well. They are inconsistent. But Tommy Wright's side will be confident going into this match given the teams they have beaten.
After all, they are playing better teams in a better league than Rangers every week. Rangers are at home which works in their favour.
But they will need seven or eight of their players to hit peak form to progress. They have to work hard, close down the opposition, not allow St Johnstone to play. But this is a fixture that Rangers can win and should look forward to.
