Rangers supporters expect cup progress

THE SPFL League One title is as good as won for Rangers.

And I think the Ibrox club's performances in recent weeks have been scrappy as a consequence of a large lead they have.

Their wins over both Arbroath and Brechin City at home were both far from convincing.

I think Ally McCoist's men are in need of a challenge against better players and better teams.

And that is what they will get if they manage to go on a run in the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Rangers have beaten Dunfermline Athletic comfortably home and away in the league this season.

But the game at Ibrox tomorrow night is a cup tie and is a different proposition.

If they progress and draw a Premiership team I think there is every chance they can do well.

I think a lot of Gers fans would like to see them come up against one of the top sides in the country. And I think there is no reason why they could not beat them.

Last season they thrashed Motherwell at home, lost to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at home and lost to Dundee United away in the cups.

But they strengthened in the summer and are as strong as any team in Scotland apart from Celtic 1 to 11.

Of course, they have to focus on overcoming Dunfermline first.
