GORDON SMITH has called for clarity from the Rangers board on Mike Ashley's controversial power grab at Ibrox.
The former Gers striker and SFA chief executive said: "At the end of the day Ashley has taken control after providing only a short-term loan.
"So the board who accepted this deal should explain exactly what involvement he'll have and what control he already has.
"We need a bit more clarity about where this is going.
"But if Ashley makes Rangers another one of his successful businesses then how are the fans going to lose out?
"They would see a successful team in the Scottish game and probably at a European level.
"There are a lot of fans who will see it as a great move but there are other supporters who are not happy about it.
"They wanted to see the club taken over by people who are supporters, like Dave King."
