I WAS delighted over the decision by Terry Butcher to stay with Inverness Caledonian Thistle this week and snub Barnsley.
Terry is one of Scottish football's great characters. You always know what you are going to get from him – whether his team has done badly or brilliantly. Whenever he speaks, it is from the heart.
The former Rangers captain has done a cracking job up in the Highlands as well.
He has got some exciting young players at his disposal and has not paid a lot of money for them either.
For Inverness to be in second spot in the SPL, to be in the semi-final of the League Cup and to still be involved in the Scottish Cup is remarkable.
Caley Thistle have the smallest attendances in the top flight.
I think Terry was right to speak to Barnsley. Not to do so would have shown a lack of ambition.
It would have sent out the message that he has no interest to be involved at a higher level.
But he enjoys living in Inverness, loves the club and is delighted with the players he has. Rightly, he wants to finish off what he has started.
But I wouldn't rule out other, far more tempting offers, coming his way in the future.
