KENNY MILLER was entitled to an extension to his contract if he played a certain number of games for Rangers this season.

I am delighted for him that he has managed to get it and believe it is positive the Ibrox club have retained his services going forward.

Yes, Kenny hasn't scored as many goals as he would have liked in the Championship, but he has set up a fair few and has always put in a decent shift.

The one thing you will always get out of the striker is workrate. He also has experience as well, and he has a great attitude.

Listening to him speak to the media in the last few weeks, you can tell he is every bit as disappointed as the fans at the way things have gone this season.

That is what you want to hear. It is certainly better than not saying anything. Or saying the pitch was to blame, or pointing a finger at the referee.

No, you have to look in the mirror and accept that you yourself are responsible. Not too many of the Rangers players have done that this season.

But they have a chance now to forget about everything that has gone on this season, about all of the draws, defeats and disappointments, and win promotion to the Premiership via the play-offs.

They can get into the semi-final against Hibs with a draw or a victory over Queen of the South at Ibrox. They have a chance with Miller leading the line.

But I think the former Scotland internationalist will be the only over-30 who is out of contract who will be kept on at Rangers beyond the end of this season.

There is a fair chance that Ian Black, Jon Daly, Bilel Mohsni and Lee McCulloch and the likes will be moved on.

They have hardly featured in recent games. Stuart McCall has obviously had a look at them in training and decided they are surplus to requirements.
