Derek said: "The World Cup. I thought the best team won. Germany were just outstanding throughout the whole tournament.
"Their 7-1 win over Brazil was one of the most amazing games of football I have ever seen.
"You could never have predicted what would happen.
"The two best teams, Argentina and Germany, got to the final. And the best team came out on top courtesy of an excellent Mario Gotze goal.
"I was glued to my television for the duration of the tournament. It was the highlight of 2014 for me."
