The centre-half limped out of last Saturday's 3-1 win at Berwick also nursing a broken nose for the second time in a matter of weeks.

Perry had an MRI scan and it has revealed that the hamstring is torn and he is facing at least six weeks on the sidelines.

It will be mid-April before he will be close to knocking on the first- team door again and with the season finishing on May 4 he may not be risked again in this campaign.

The young defender is optimistic he can play a further part in the Irn-Bru Third Division title charge but will be cautious.

So that could signal a prolonged partnership for Chris Hegarty and Emilson Cribari, who were involved in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Stirling Albion.

Skipper Lee McCulloch is comfortable at centre- back and is back in full training after an ankle bruising problem.

He is an obvious option for Ally McCoist in defence but it is unclear if he will be fit for Saturday's home game with East Stirling-shire having not feat-ured since January 5.
