DAVID TEMPLETON admits he has been given a timely confidence boost by his super-sub showing against Queen of the South.

The winger was the Rangers hero as he inspired Ally McCoist's side to a second-half comeback, the Light Blues extending their recent winning run with a 4-2 triumph.

He pulled Rangers level just seconds after his introduction and was delighted to play his part.

Templeton said: "When I was going on, the gaffer just told me to be positive, stay wide and get at the full-back every time I could.

"I think it was actually my first touch. It started out with Lewis (Macleod) who gave it to Boydy (Kris Boyd) who gave it to me. When Boydy passed it the boy slipped which made my mind up to come inside.

"Thankfully I've just managed to hit it as sweet as I could.

"Any time I do get a chance I like to shoot anyway - if you don't shoot you don't score, that's the way I see it.

"Obviously it opened up quite nicely for me and it gave me a lot of confidence to see it go in.

"I think we played a lot better football after that and we got another couple of good goals as well."

After turning the tide in Rangers' favour and helping them to a crucial Championship win, Templeton was forced off late with an ankle knock.

"It was actually when I fouled the boy," the 25-year-old told rangers.co.uk

"I've twisted an ankle as I've done it and I could feel it when I was running.

"The gaffer took me off as a precaution just to make sure it didn't get any worse, especially as I've had ankle problems before.

"It was probably a good decision as I'm feeling good now."
