DAVID TEMPLETON admits he is still searching for match sharpness after a below-par display in Rangers' victory over Forfar on Sunday.
The winger set up the only goal of the game at Station Park as he capitalised on a mistake from Loons defender Darren Dods to find Andrew Little, with the Northern Irishman finishing well to give Ally McCoist's side a narrow win.
It has been a frustrating start to the campaign for Templeton, who endured an injury- disrupted pre-season campaign after suffering a thigh knock and he has yet to rediscover his top form in Light Blue.
On his day the former Hearts star is one of the Gers' most creative and exciting performers and the 24-year-old is eager to hit the heights once again.
Templeton said: "I have been happy for the team but personally I've not been best pleased with myself.
"I picked up a couple of niggles in pre-season so I feel I have been playing catch-up. Right now I don't feel that I am match fit or sharp yet.
"I'm still trying to get that and against Forfar I didn't play well at all. I managed to set up the goal but that was the only pleasing thing from my point of view.
"Thankfully we managed to get the three points and that's what we wanted before the match started."
Templeton was not the only Gers star to endure an off-day at Station Park as the champions scrapped their way to three points.
But the Light Blues winger admits the conditions in Angus were far from ideal as McCoist's men kept up their perfect league record.
"It was horrible conditions, it seemed like a really nice day but, with the sun being out, the pitch was dry and it was so sticky, you couldn't dribble with the ball," he told rangers.co.uk
"I didn't feel I could take anyone on because the ball was just sticking under my feet. It was really windy, too; although it was a nice day the wind was incredible."
