TIMES TALKER: Does Mohsni have discipline issue at Rangers?

YES says MATTHEW LINDSAY BILEL Mohsni has shown that he has many strengths as a player since signing for Rangers in the summer.

He is outstanding in the air, has an eye for goal and is a decent defender on his day.

But one thing the French-Tunisian centre-half is not is a calm under pressure. In fact, he is not even calm when there is no pressure.

His ordering off against Brechin City on Saturday for a second booking was nothing short of ridiculous. It very nearly cost his side the game.

It is not the first occasion that the former Southend and Ipswich player has got caught up in off-the-ball incidents either.

Mohsni has allowed himself to be goaded by opposition supporters and players. He is lucky to have been red carded just twice this term.

Ally McCoist and his backroom team will have to address this and attempt to eradicate this flaw in the defender's make-up before it costs Rangers dear.

BILEL Mohsni was foolish to allow himself to be ordered off so easily in the game against Brechin at Ibrox on Saturday.

But to say the defender has a discipline problem is a bit harsh.

He has been ordered off on two occasions since joining Rangers and both were a result of second bookings.

Against Airdrie in December he cracked after being being kicked up and down the park for 90 minutes. He became embroiled in a set-to after the final whistle and was ordered off inside the stadium.

But there was extreme provocation on that occasion. The match official should have defended the Rangers players far more than he did.

As I say, he has only really let himself down on one occasion so you can't say he has a problem with his temperament.

It would not do any harm for Ally McCoist to put an arm around the shoulder of Mohsni and have a quiet word with him. But the ban he will receive for his red card will be punishment enough.
