FOR NOW says MATTHEW LINDSAY

FRANCISCO Sanadaza's search for a goal continues to torment the Spaniard. Against Berwick at Ibrox on Saturday the striker had several gilt-edged chances. To his obvious frustration, he passed them all up.

Nevertheless, the rangy forward performed well for his team and supplied Andy Little and David Templeton for their goals.

Ally McCoist should continue to select him. His overall performances are sound and goals will surely come. Once he nets he will surely grow in confidence.

McCoist has no other options at the moment anyway with both Kevin Kyle and Lee McCulloch out injured. When Kyle or McCulloch return, though, he will be faced with a selection headache if Sandaza is still not scoring. Despite their fourth tier status, a club like Rangers cannot play with a hit man who is persistently failing to hit the target.

Sandaza would be a useful man to have on the bench and his presence would ensure the first choice striker works hard to achieve a high standard of play.

YES says ALISON McCONNELL

FRANCISCO SANDAZA has been poor for Rangers this season and since he returned to the team from injury his impact has been minimal.

However, against Berwick at the weekend he produced what was arguably his most effective display of the campaign.

He was hugely involved in the forward play but is clearly suffering a crisis of confidence in front of goal. On Saturday he did everything but put the ball in the back of the net.

At one stage he looked to the heavens in despair, but it is inevitable that the goals will come for him.

This is the Third Division. No disrespect to the teams in the league, but Sandaza was a proven goalscorer at St Johnstone in the SPL and if McCoist sticks with him you would have to imagine that the goals will follow.

In any case, his contribution to the weekend's victory was quietly impressive.

Without netting he still was a significant contributor to the victory.
