RANGERS crashed to a heavy 3-1 defeat to Hibs at Ibrox - to remain six points behind SPFL Championship leaders Hearts.
Ally McCoist's team had hoped to reduce the gap on their capital rivals, who thrashed Livingston at the weekend, with a home victory.
However, they conceded three goals to opponents who were languishing in second bottom spot in the table in a catastrophic first half.
Jason Cummings got on the end of a clearance kick upfield by Hibs keeper Mark Oxley and fired beyond Steve Simonsen in 25 minutes.
And five minutes later David Gray rose to meet a Lewis Stevenson cross and headed into the opposition net from close range.
Then six minutes before half-time Cummings rounded off a slick passing move when he slotted into the bottom corner from an acute angle.
Nicky Law gave the League One champions some hope when he powered a shot into the Hibs goal in 55 minutes.
But despite Fraser Aird, Jon Daly and David Templeton all being brought on the Govan club failed to add to their tally.
