Lewis Macleod fires home a 78th-minute winner for Rangers
RANGERS booked their place in the third round of the League Cup tonight with a 1-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.
Just over 15,000 fans turned out to see the cup clash at Ibrox as punters continue to stay away in the midst of more off-field drama at the club.
But it was to prove a positive night on the park for boss Ally McCoist as his side set up a meeting with Championship rivals Falkirk next week.
After Partick Thistle inflicted their first Premiership defeat at the weekend as they lost top spot in the top tier, John Hughes' side suffered their second successive defeat in Glasgow.
Lewis Macleod got the only goal of the game just twelve minutes from time as Rangers clinched a deserved win over their visitors.
