HARIS VUCKIC has revealed Shane Ferguson is already well up to speed with life at Rangers after getting regular updates from the Slovenian star.

While Vuckic has made an instant impact at Ibrox since joining on loan from Newcastle, his Toon team-mate has only just arrived in Glasgow as he continues his recovery from injury.

Ferguson has spent several months on the sidelines and only has a couple of weeks to get up to full fitness to aid Rangers' promotion push.

It remains to be seen if the Northern Irishman will ever pull on a Gers jersey but Vuckic is confident Ferguson can follow in his footsteps and shine for Stuart McCall's side.

He said: "He is very quick and very good technically. He can play left wing or left back and likes to go forward and deliver really good crosses.

"I'm really happy that he is here. We kept in touch when he was in his rehab because I wanted to know how he was doing.

"Now he is here and he will have to work hard but if he gets his chance I know he will show what kind of player he is.

"We chatted after every game because he wanted to know what it was like and I wanted to know how he was getting on, how is his knee, when he is coming.

"He had a big set-back with his knee so he could have been here earlier but now he is here and he can make a big impact.

"I was telling him he needs to get here because I was really enjoying it with the lads and he staff.

"Everybody accepted me really well and he had found it the same way. Everyone is good to him."

Rangers moved another step closer to securing second spot in the Championship on Saturday as Vuckic clinched a 3-1 win over Dumbarton after 18-year-old Ryan Hardie netted brace on his first start for the club.

It has been an encouraging few weeks for the Light Blues as McCall has turned around their fortunes on the park and the new Ibrox board continue their rebuilding job off it.

And Vuckic is pleased with how things are going as the Gers set their sights on a Premiership place.

He said: "I had read a lot in the papers about stuff but I just wanted to focus on playing and training hard and do my maximum.

"When I first came the training was a little bit down but it's different now.

"We are winning games and the atmosphere is better. The new manager came in and brought enthusiasm.

"People are fighting for their place in the team and we are doing a lot better in the training. The tempo is higher."

If Rangers are to clinch a top flight berth this term, Vuckic is likely to play a huge part for McCall's side in the coming weeks.

The forward netted his seventh goal in nine games at the Rock as he cut in from the flank in trademark style and unleashed a superb shot into the net.

Vuckic said: "I was very happy that the team won and of course I scored a goal as well.

"I have scored many like that before. I like to get the ball on the right side and cut onto the left and then hit the corner of the net and I did it again so I'm happy."
