RANGERS would be landing a player of passion and total commitment if they can sign Honduran defensive midfielder Arnold Peralta.

That ringing endorsement comes from the 24-year-old's national team-mate Roger Espinoza.

The Wigan Athletic star – who helped his side shock Manchester City to win the FA Cup – has watched Emilio Izaguirre and Jorge Claros fly for the flag for Honduras at Celtic and Hibs respectively.

And Espinoza predicts it would be a hat-trick of Honduran success stories in Scotland if Ally McCoist – who yesterday agreed to sign Dundee United's Jon Daly on a two-year-deal – can bring Peralta from CDS Vida back in his Central American homeland.

Vida were ready to sell Peralta to Toronto FC for $350,000 earlier this year, but the player refused to go, hoping Rangers would firm up their initial interest.

With McCoist – Irn-Bru Third Division Manager of the Season – now making his moves in the transfer market, ahead of Rangers' registration embargo being lifted on September 1, Peralta could be next to be parachuted in.

"I've heard about Rangers apparently being interested in Arnold," said Espinoza. "He has started a few games at right-back for the national side, including at the Olympics.

"I think he is suited to the British game. He's a very hard-working player and gives 100 per cent all the time.

"Arnold is very passionate, and the fans will like that. But, as with any player from Honduras, he would have to be given a little bit of time. People have to remember we come from a different climate and culture, so you have to adapt.

"Once that happens, I think he could be very successful over here. I certainly want Arnorld to come and play in the UK because it's better for Honduran football if we get more players at big clubs over here."
