FRASER AIRD knows there will only be one winner when Rangers players and the Light Blue legions clash.

Ibrox boss Ally McCoist has spoken to Richard Foster after an incident during his side's Petrofac Training Cup win over East Fife on Tuesday.

The defender reacted angrily to a shout from the sidelines as tempers flared in Methil.

Rangers return to Championship action against Dumbarton this afternoon aiming to close the gap on league leaders Hearts to six points.

The punters will again be in the thick of the action at the Bet Butler Stadium, with the stand in close proximity to the playing surface.

But Aird knows the Gers stars can't let any criticism effect them on the pitch.

He said: "It's just something that comes with playing football.

"In the last two seasons, the fans have been really close to the pitch because we have been at smaller grounds.

"There have been fans lining the pitch at some games and you do hear things at times.

"But you are a professional, so other people's opinions shouldn't really bother you in a way.

"At the end of the day, you are the one playing and you have to go and put on a performance. Regardless of what anyone says, you have to get on with it.

"It is hard at times but being a professional you have to keep focused.

"The fans will always have their opinion. Rangers fans are the best in the world.

"But, like any fans, if they think you could be doing better they are going to give you a little bit.

"You just need to block that out and go out and play."
