ROMANCE really is the key to keeping a relationship alive and stopping a partner straying.

ROMANCE really is the key to keeping a relationship alive and stopping a partner straying.

New research shows it not only keep the sparks flying in a partnership, but actually release a chemical which draws people together.

Students in long-term relationships were asked to look at photos of people ranging from average looking to highly attractive.

But before this, they were asked to write an essay expressing their love for their partner. The findings revealed people with strong feelings of love for their partner automatically rejected the most attractive subjects in the photos.

Research leader Dr Jon Maner, of Florida State University, said: "Romantic love for a partner inhibits the processing of attractive relationship alternatives. Love truly does appear to be blind."
