SHOCKED neighbours could help find the killer of a man who died following an argument.

Police today appealed to residents living in and around Dalziel Tower in Motherwell to come forward following an incident which led to the death of a 48-year-old man.

Emergency services were called to the flat in the Muirhouse area of the South Lanarkshire town on Sunday following an argument.

The man was found badly injured and was rushed by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital but was dead on arrival.

Police launched a murder inquiry yesterday after a post mortem examination.

The findings have not been disclosed but a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector John Lamb, who is leading the inquiry, said: "Forensic experts have been carrying out a detailed examination at the scene of the murder and officers have also been carrying out extensive door-to-door inquiries.

"Inquiries are at an early stage and I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Dalziel Tower at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or running from the tower, to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

"They may unwittingly hold information which could help us move this inquiry forward."

Anyone who can help should call 01698 202659 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Police have yet to name the victim.
