THERE have been plenty of theories banded about in recent weeks as to why Rangers have failed to fire on the road in the Irn-Bru Third Division.

But Clyde boss Jim Duffy reckons there will be one excuse that cannot be used for Ally McCoist's side when they travel to Broadwood on Sunday.

Many believe that it is the unfamiliar surroundings of grounds in the bottom division that have contributed to the Gers' shocking away form, including Peterhead, Berwick Annan and also Stirling.

There will be no bumpy pitches or tight dressing rooms in Cumbernauld this weekend, however, as the Bully Wee attempt to pile more away day misery on Ally's men.

Duffy said: "They are still finding their feet away from home and hopefully that remains the case on Sunday.

"We have a terrific stadium, it is in a central location, the dressing rooms are big and we have a terrific new 3G pitch.

"There is every reason why Rangers will enjoy coming to Broadwood, I am sure there will be a terrific atmosphere as well.

"People have said that when Rangers have gone away from home it has maybe been a bit of a shock to their system but Broadwood is different from a lot of the other grounds.

"It won't be a shock to their system, it will probably be a pleasant surprise for some of the Rangers players who haven't been here.

"I don't think that will faze them at all."

Clyde head into the Gers clash on the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat at Berwick last weekend.

McCoist's Ibrox side, whoare top of the third division table, will pose a different challenge for Duffy's men on Sunday afternoon.

He said: "We weren't at our best last weekend but I still felt we worked very hard on a heavy pitch.

"At 1-1 we were looking strong defensively and then Ian Gray got sent off with 20 minutes to go.

"They were two innocuous challenges but we know the rules and can't complain about it.

"We made a mistake towards the end of the game and then had a goal chopped off late on.

"It is hard to say but it looked like it was a tight decision.

"We have had two very tight calls go against us in the last two games but you just have to get on with it.

"The effort was there but we were lacking a spark at times."
