STEVEN CRAIG admits he let himself down after his red card madness on Saturday cost him his place for Partick Thistle's top of the table clash with Dunfermline.

The striker was sent off during the Jags' Scottish Cup win over Cove Rangers after lashing out at defender Eric Watson.

He will now miss Thistle's next two Irn-Bru First Division clashes – starting with the first versus second crunch against the Pars this weekend as Jackie McNamara's side attempt to regain pole position in the race for promotion.

Craig said: "It was a rush of blood and an act of stupidity. That is the only way I can describe it.

"The biggest disappointment is missing the Dunfermline game on Saturday. It was a heat of the moment thing and I know that I let the gaffer down, I let my team-mates down and I let the fans down.

"I will miss Saturday's game, which is hugely disappointing. There is nothing I can do about it now, it is done and dusted.

"I have got a two-game ban so I will miss two really important games so that is a big punishment for me.

"When I was walking off, I knew that I was going to miss the Dunfermline game and that is the kind of ocassion you want to play in.

"It is my own fault, I can have no complaints. I let everyone down."

*Partick Thistle will wear their traditional red and yellow colours for the first time on Saturday and are planning a party atmosphere at Firhill to mark the occasion.

The Jags are asking fans to come to the game dressed in red and yellow to celebrate the club's traditional colours.

Tickets are on sale from Firhill priced at £17 for adults and £12 for concessions. Children under-16 go free.
