Joe Jordan today told the Scottish Football Association he would love the opportunity to manage his country.
The international legend has been backed by fellow internationals Graeme Souness and Gordon McQueen to replace Craig Levein.
"You want to be at the top of your profession as a coach, as a manager," said Jordan.
"As a Scotsman you want it to be the Scotland job. If you ask me if I'd be interested in the job, yes I am.
"I want to continue to be involved in football, whether that is manager or something else.
"But time will tell, we'll wait and see what happens."
