ANDY LITTLE believes Kevin Kyle's first goal for the Ibrox club can be the catalyst for him to kick on this season.

Kyle was on the scoresheet as Rangers romped to a 6-2 win over East Stirlingshire on Saturday afternoon and Little, who also netted, believes the goal is just the start of it.

"I'm sure that he can go on and do a real job for us," said Little. "He was maybe a bit frustrated at first because he had to get up to match sharpness but having got his first goal I'm sure he'll take so much confidence from it. He'll bang a few more in for us between now and the end of the season."

Kyle, or anyone else for that matter, will find it tough to chase down Lee McCulloch in the scoring charts.

The versatile Ibrox captain took his tally for the season to 19 when he converted two spot-kicks – and gave one away the other end – on Saturday.

And Little believes that McCulloch is in the form of his life. People will say 'oh, it's only the Third Division,' but it doesn't matter," said Little.

"He is putting the ball in the back of the net every week which is the hardest thing you can do in football.

"Hs record stands up anyone's right now in the Scottish game. He has played the captain's role perfectly this season."

Little himself has had a stop-start time of it with injuries again cursing him this term.

He had a spell out of the team in September after a stress fracture in his foot and had been a doubt in the build-up to Saturday's game with severe bruising on his foot.

However, he is determined to play a significant part in Rangers push for the the Irn-Bru Third Division title.

"The challenge for me this season was always going to be if I could cope with playing 30 or 40 games and that is still the aim," he said.

"I want to feature as often as I can and play the biggest role that I can. I'm enjoying my football and I just want to help the team to win games and climb back up to where we belong.

"The last few weeks have been good and it is always nice to get on the scoresheet – even if it was a wee deflection!

"There is a real appetite among the boys to play and although it isn't the biggest squad, there is still a lot of competition for places so you know you have to produce it when you are in there."
