FORSTER (8) The hero against Barca, there was little he could do with either goal last night.

Good, low finish from John early before Garay was left unmarked to smash past him. Made a couple of decent stops late on.

LUSTIG (6) Given a hard task as Benfica used the flanks to great effect. Struggled to cope with the pace of wide-man John.

AMBROSE (6) Not at the same level as some of his previous Champions League outings but did make some crucial blocks.

WILSON (7) Made a couple of timely interceptions but will be disappointed with his role in Benfica's second goal, as Garay drifted away from him inside the area.

MATTHEWS (6) Also kept busy by the tricky Benfica wingers as he was deployed at left-back. Pulled off a superb goalline block to deny Lima.

BROWN (5) One of his quieter nights. Struggled to assert himself on proceedings before being replaced after an hour.

WANYAMA (6) Had another solid performance. Late booking rules him out of the final Group G clash at home to Spartak and he will be sorely missed.

LEDLEY (5) Utilised in central and wide left roles, the latter following Charlie Mulgrew's premature departure. Struggled to shine in either.

MULGREW (6) Forced off through illness at the break but had made significant impact in his 45 minutes, curling in a superb corner for Samaras to head home at the back post.

SAMARAS (7) Continued his terrific European form with a tireless display. In acres of space to head home Mulgrew's cross to pull Celtic level.

HOOPER (6) Had little service as Celtic struggled to find their rhythm going forward. Close to scoring in the final minute.

KAYAL (6) (for Mulgrew 45) Decent second-half cameo from the midfielder. Spurned late chance as he fired over from the edge of the area.

COMMONS (4) (for Brown 63) Replaced his captain on the right of midfield. Could have provided Matthews with more cover defensively.

WATT (3) (for Ledley 79) Could not emerge as the Hoops' supersub this time.
