GORDY REID has set his sights on helping Glasgow make it a magnificent seven wins on the bounce when the European champions Leinster arrive at Scotstoun tonight.

The powerful loosehead was part of the squad who smashed the Dublin men's 26-game unbeaten home run at the Royal Dublin Showgrounds in September last year.

Gregor Townsend's men have stormed back from their early season blip to set a winning run record of six games in the RaboDirect PRO12, which includes victories in their last three outings at their new home.

But with the campaign entering a crucial section of six games – a trip to Munster is next up before a home and away Heineken Cup double header with Castres is followed by the annual 1872 Cup clash with Edinburgh – Reid has no doubt about the importance of dumping Joe Schmidt's men in Glasgow for the first time since September, 2010.

The 25-year-old said: "We have just set a new club record of six wins on the trot, but we are now into the second phase of the campaign and have to start again.

"It would be fantastic to take our winning run to seven, but we have to forget about records and focus on beating Leinster.

"That would give us a springboard into a monster stretch of games in the PRO12 and in the Heineken Cup. The key against Leinster tonight is that we must be in their faces from the first whistle until the last.

"If we go back to our win over at the RDS last year we really took it to them. We put pressure on them early on and got their pack going backwards.

"We just kept piling it on and that is what is going to be required for the full 80 minutes at Scotstoun tonight.

"But we had a young side out in that game and it came during the Autumn international break when every one of us was hungry to beat the European champions.

"They will come here determined not to get ambushed again. It should be some match."

With Ryan Grant on Scotland duty and Jon Welsh still recovering from injury, Reid has taken his opportunity to string together an impressive run in the No.1 shirt.

His recent good form culminated with a try-scoring outing in the bonus-point romp against the Dragons last time out.

The former Premiership One Player of the Year admitted he's taken encouragement from Grant's elevation to international status, but is determined not just to keep his shirt warm.

The modest Warrior said: "You look at what Ryan has achieved in starting the last five Scotland internationals and being named in the starting line up for Tonga and it does give you a lot of encouragement.

"But, at the same time, I am here to play as much rugby as I can for a winning Glasgow side. Hopefully I can take another step to achieving both these aims tonight."
