JACKIE McNAMARA hopes supporters will continue to flock to Firhill to aid Partick Thistle's promotion push.

But the Jags boss knows it is up to him and his players to keep turning on the style to encourage fans to back his stars.

A bumper crowd of more than 5000 saw Thistle's last home fixture in the Irn-Bru First Division as McNamara's side beat championship rivals Dunfermline in stunning style, the 5-1 win taking them back to the top of the standings and setting down another marker of their title intentions.

Jags supporters that have made the trip to Firhill have been well rewarded, with McNamara's free-flowing side netting an impressive 29 times in their eight league and cup outings.

Livingston make the trip to Glasgow this weekend as Thistle attempt to keep their stunning home form going and stretch ahead of joint-leaders Dunfermline.

Mac has been frustrated in recent weeks as teams have set out to stifle his side, but the Firhill boss is expecting an entertaining afternoon when new Lions boss Gareth Evans brings his side along the M8 tomorrow.

He said: "Ultimately, it will come down to whether or not we are doing it on the park if the fans are going to come back.

"Playing good football helps, but the results are just as important for us at the moment.

"We want to keep our home run going. We've only conceded three and scored a lot of goals in the league.

"The stats are pleasing and we want to keep building on that. The home form is going to be important for us.

"But even away from home and the games we have lost, the performances have been okay in bits. I don't feel that we merited getting beaten.

"If you lose, you can hold your hands up and say that you were beaten by the better side on the day, but I don't feel we have had that."

McNamara added: "It is a results business, we are here to win games of football but we are also here to entertain.

"The fans come here and they want to watch good football.

"We want our players to go out and express themselves, to learn and to play the game without fear.

"From what I have seen so far, Livingston like to do that and I am sure John Collins and Gareth will continue to encourage that, as we do here. Obviously, we want the result as well."

Thistle head into the Firhill clash aiming to get back to winning ways after a 1-0 defeat to Hamilton Accies seven days ago saw them suffer another Friday night football loss.

McNamara was frustrated at seeing his side lose for only the second time on league duty this term following their defeat to Morton.

The Jags boss was able to take in Livi's clash with Falkirk on Saturday, however, as Evans took control of the side after John Hughes departed to take charge of Hartlepool United.

McNamara said: "It was a disappointing night for us at Hamilton last Friday, but we are back at Firhill this weekend and hopefully we can keep the home form going.

"I think it should be a great game. I was at the Livingston game last Saturday and they are a good footballing side.

"I know Gareth is in charge now, but you can see the ethos that John Collins and John Hughes put in place there.

"They are doing everything right, they are bringing kids through and they are teaching them how to play.

"They are not too worried about results at this moment, they are looking to the future and it is good that they have got that belief."

lMidfielder Ross Forbes has agreed an extension to his Jags deal and will now remain at Firhill until May 2013.
