SPARTAK MOSCOW are in meltdown ahead of their Champions League clash with Celtic after their own fans tried to attack the team.

The Russian club, who have former Celtic star Aiden McGeady in their squad, are in disarray following a crushing 5-1 defeat to city rivals Dynamo Moscow.

Since that disaster, they have sacked manager Unai Emery – but that was just the start of their problems.

Their own fans attacked the team bus and demanded the terrified players come out and explain their recent displays.

Star striker Artem Dzyuba then appeared and slated the manager – an outburst that earned him a £35,000 club fine.

Fellow hitman Emmanuel Emenike is also in trouble after he refused to come on as a substitute in the defeat when Spartak were already 3-0 down.

Just to top it off, Spartak director Dmitri Popov is facing the sack for posting pictures of him partying with some of his own players the night before the derby defeat on the internet.

It has also been widely reported in Russia that McGeady has stepped up his efforts to leave in January and will be available for around £6million, with Fulham leading the chase.

Dzyuba told fans he could not understand Emery's tactics and that he was a poor coach, but his comments were caught on tape and club bosses acted to fine him.

Now the Russians will travel to Glasgow next week in turmoil for a game Celtic want to win to ensure qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League.
